Since 2000, we have been researching and developing solutions for green technologies, advanced and quantum materials in the fields of green energy, smart vehicles, and quality of human life and health. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"0\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-66db18c4 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do we influence the city and the region?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"q-list\">\n<li>We bring technological development and innovation to the region. Our work in <a href=\"#1\">advanced and quantum materials<\/a> and <a href=\"#9\">renewable energy and energy storage technologies<\/a> has the potential to transform the <a href=\"#4\">industries<\/a> we work closely with, as well as other sectors. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We actively internationalize the region through our cooperation with international research institutions and companies, creating international teams, and attracting foreign researchers. More than <a href=\"#4\">25 percent <\/a>of our researchers come from abroad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We support sustainable development &#8211; we participate in projects that ultimately lead to green solutions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are the longest existing research institute at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen &#8211; <a href=\"#5\">since 2000<\/a> we have been dedicated to research, development and innovation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We contributed significantly to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.6thriver.cz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">development of the Science and Technology Park of Pilsen<\/a>, where we concentrated exceptional scientific capacities, laboratories and development workplaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where are we heading?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"q-list\">\n<li>We are addressing current scientific challenges in green technologies and <a href=\"#1\">advanced and quantum materials<\/a>, becoming a&nbsp;key player in the global innovation space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are a&nbsp;respected partner of progressive global companies and an attractive place to develop talent in science and research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our researchers create progress with a&nbsp;positive impact on society and nature. <br>The NTC philosophy, embodied in the credo &#8220;Research for your success&#8221;, embodies a&nbsp;commitment to our partners and the public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-06823598 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\">What are advanced and quantum materials?<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-container full-width-container-image uagb-block-c0c8a9c3 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-c6cb7cf5\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-e9d526b2\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-bf9323ac\">\n<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntc.zcu.cz\/en\/index.html\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ntc.zcu.cz\/en\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Technologies Research Centre (NTC)<\/a> we specialise in the deep understanding and design of new materials. Our main focus is on materials with revolutionary and unexpected properties based on <a href=\"https:\/\/cs.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kvantov%C3%A1_fyzika\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quantum physics<\/a>. These materials, for example, enable the production of extremely low-power and exceptionally precise, miniaturised devices (e.g. using <a href=\"https:\/\/cs.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Supravodivost\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">superconductivity<\/a>, maximum memory concentration, quantum sensors, chips, etc.). <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-740b6bcc\">\n<p class=\"text-more\">Our efforts are aimed at pushing the boundaries of the possibilities of these materials, which could bring about fundamental changes in areas such as <strong>quantum computing, sensors, energy, medicine and biotechnology<\/strong>. The unique combination of knowledge of theoretical calculations and experiments gives our facility in Pilsen a&nbsp;unique character. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-1ece3995 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-b48bb220\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\">What have we achieved in the field of advanced and quantum materials?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>We have created an international team in Pilsen, which always includes at least <strong>25 percent of research capacity from abroad. Currently, there are 30 colleagues from 13 different countries.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have successfully solved and are solving the requirements of companies within contract research and research projects &#8211; e.g. NCK Mechanical Engineering 1 + NCK Mechanical Engineering 2 etc. We cooperate with companies such as Wikov Gear, Hofmeister, ZF Engineering, \u0160koda AUTO, \u0160koda Transportation etc.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have combined theoretical and experimental methods for the development of advanced materials with new functionalities in the framework of an excellent research team project. Together with partners, we are implementing the PhD programme &#8220;European Spectroscopic Laboratory for Modelling Future Materials &#8211; EUSpecLab&#8221; within the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). A&nbsp;total of 32 centres or projects emerged from the programme. We do not have information on whether the centres built from this programme are still operating independently, whether they have been integrated into other research structures or whether their research potential has been exhausted and they have disappeared. What can be said for sure, however, is that the NTC is one of the few research centres that have maintained their continuity to the present day and are among the leaders in basic and applied research.   <br><br>The NTC began its activities on 3.&nbsp;7.&nbsp;2020 with the support of Rector Zden\u011bk Vostrack\u00fd. This means an <g id=\"gid_2\">open door to the latest technologies and know-how for the whole region<\/g>. NTC can provide expert support and cooperation.  <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"9\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-b1d57c4b alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\">What are renewable energy and energy storage technologies?<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"10\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-container full-width-container-image uagb-block-755009f9 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container full-width-container-image uagb-block-e60baa84\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-ed62e290\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-adea17cc\">\n<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntc.zcu.cz\/cs\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Technologies Research Centre (NTC)<\/a>, we focus on the pressing topic of renewable energy and energy storage. It is based primarily on <strong>electrochemistry<\/strong>, which is the driving force behind modern technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-34cd9683\">\n<p class=\"text-more\">Specifically, NTC is developing <strong>innovative types of redox flow batteries<\/strong> that enable the safe, efficient and long-term storage of large volumes of electricity. It also focuses on <strong>fuel cell technologies, hydrogen generators, alternative fuels or metal-air battery systems, vanadium&#8230;<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"11\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-df29e4d1 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-1b981a4d\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\">What have we achieved in the field of renewable energy and energy storage?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>We have developed <strong>battery stacks<\/strong> with low internal resistance, which are the basis for the startup <a href=\"#12\">Pinflow Energy Storage<\/a>, which is developing new, <strong>highly efficient redox flow batteries.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We participated in the development of the first <strong>prototype organic redox flow battery<\/strong> with organic electrolyte in La Plana, Spain, thanks to the Horizon Europe HIGREEW project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have been researching two types of systems, metal-to-air and organics-to-air, which can serve as stationary and mobile low-cost electrical energy storage. This was made possible by TA CR Th\u00e9ta&#8217;s&nbsp;project Development of advanced flow-through electrochemical energy storage systems. We are developing this theme further in the FLOWSCALE project, where we are focusing on cheaper and more precise large-scale production of industrial <strong>redox flow batteries<\/strong> at a&nbsp;reasonable cost.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In cooperation with Nimetal, we have constructed an experimental l<strong>ine for cadmium recycling and separation<\/strong> with a&nbsp;capacity of 5&nbsp;kg per bag. The company then built a&nbsp;large furnace in \u00dast\u00ed nad Labem with a&nbsp;capacity of 500&nbsp;kg of cadmium. The company has now also successfully installed larger-scale batteries.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-modal uagb-block-30c6b610 uagb-modal-wrapper text-show-more\" data-escpress=\"enable\" data-overlayclick=\"disable\"><span class=\"uagb-modal-text uagb-modal-trigger\">More information<\/span><div class=\"uagb-effect-default uagb-modal-popup uagb-block-30c6b610\"><div class=\"uagb-modal-popup-wrap\"><div class=\"uagb-modal-popup-content\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-info-box uagb-block-7a8f69b1 uagb-infobox__content-wrap  uagb-infobox-icon-above-title uagb-infobox-image-valign-top\"><div class=\"uagb-ifb-content\"><div class=\"uagb-ifb-title-wrap\"><h4 class=\"uagb-ifb-title\">Did you know that&#8230;<\/h4><\/div><p class=\"uagb-ifb-desc\">For example, in P\u00edsek the battery is connected to the energy processing of sludge, and there are two other smaller installations in South Bohemia, where regional companies have decided to follow the path of sustainability and have connected the batteries with photovoltaics. <br><br>In January, the first installation (VRFB) took place in Norway in cooperation with the local company Bryte Batteries, which ensured the optimization and energy management of the food court. Further installations are in Germany and Australia. The city has already supported Pinflow in the BIC incubation program.
