a&nbsp;total of 45 study programmes and 192 different combinations of double-disciplinary studies.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"0\" class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-66db18c4 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do we influence the city and the region?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"q-list\">\n<li>We have been educating teachers for more than <a href=\"#2\">three-quarters<\/a> of a&nbsp;century.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have more than <a href=\"#3\">28&nbsp;000 graduates.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Through our graduates we co-create (not only) our region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where are we heading?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul a&nbsp;branch of the already existing Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-modal uagb-block-a2c967ab uagb-modal-wrapper text-show-more\" class=\"uagb-ifb-desc\">The opening ceremony took place exactly two months later in the main hall of the Slovansk\u00e1 (nowadays and originally also M\u011b\u0161t&#8217;ansk\u00e1) Beseda. <br><br>Teaching was entrusted mainly to professors from Pilsen secondary schools or university professors and assistants from the faculty in Prague, and in the autumn of 1949 the faculty acquired its was <strong>halted by the intervention of the communist government<\/strong>, which gained unlimited power over universities by a&nbsp;law of May 1950.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-modal uagb-block-7bb06cbe uagb-modal-wrapper text-show-more\" data-escpress=\"enable\" data-overlayclick=\"disable\"><span class=\"uagb-modal-text uagb-modal-trigger\">More information<\/span><div class=\"uagb-ifb-title\">Did you know that&#8230;<\/h4><\/div><p class=\"uagb-ifb-desc\">Already in the autumn of 1950, the training of teachers of national schools (i.e. today&#8217;s&nbsp;first grade of primary school) was transferred to the newly established pedagogical grammar schools. Here, too, a&nbsp;student strike committee was formed and various meetings and discussions took place.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-modal uagb-block-66197224 uagb-modal-wrapper text-show-more\" data-escpress=\"enable\" data-overlayclick=\"disable\"><span class=\"uagb-modal-text uagb-modal-trigger\">More information<\/span><div class=\"uagb-effect-default uagb-modal-popup uagb-block-66197224\"><div class=\"uagb-modal-popup-wrap\"><div class=\"uagb-modal-popup-content\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-info-box uagb-block-60a4aff6 uagb-infobox__content-wrap  uagb-infobox-icon-above-title uagb-infobox-image-valign-top\"><div class=\"uagb-ifb-content\"><div class=\"uagb-ifb-title-wrap\"><h4 class=\"uagb-ifb-title\">Did you know that&#8230;<\/h4><\/div><p class=\"uagb-ifb-desc\">The then dean, prof. PhDr. Vladim\u00edr Brichta, CSc. resigned and in his place was elected doc. Ing. Ji\u0159\u00ed Py\u0161ek, CSc.<br><br>The new Higher Education Act of 1990 confirmed the right to self-government for universities. It established the Academic Senate, which originally had three chambers &#8211; the teaching chamber (13 members), the staff chamber (3 members) and the student chamber (5 members). <br><br> The Senate then elected in 1991 a&nbsp;new dean of the faculty, Assoc. RNDr. Jaroslav Dr\u00e1bek, CSc. Pysek with representatives of the University of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering led to an agreement on the <strong>creation of a&nbsp;joint university in Pilsen<\/strong>. Both activities were recognized by the city of Pilsen in the form of a&nbsp;ceremonial presentation of a&nbsp;letter of appreciation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/info.zcu.cz\/clanek.jsp?id=3146\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">During the covid period, students led<\/a> a&nbsp;children&#8217;s&nbsp;group and an improvised school for children of Pilsen hospital employees, tutored children online, helped in hospitals, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-large is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/info.zcu.cz\/image?obrazek=12348&amp;amp;type=crop_info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/info.zcu.cz\/image?obrazek=12348&amp;type=crop_info\" alt=\"Students teach children during the covid period\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the faculty quickly assembled a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/plzen.eu\/o-meste\/aktuality\/aktuality-z-mesta\/studenti-pedagogicke-fakulty-pomahaji-ve-skolach-s-adaptaci-ukrajinskych-deti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">group of more than 150 student<\/a> and staff volunteers. Students are guided to use <strong>modern didactic methods<\/strong>, while at the same time we pay attention to the quality of the disciplinary component of their preparation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-10d3d44b\">\n<p class=\"text-more\">The students also participate in the implementation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/info.zcu.cz\/clanek.jsp?id=5091&amp;lang=cs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Children&#8217;s&nbsp;University<\/a>, which has been attended by <strong>hundreds of children<\/strong> <strong>from our region<\/strong> over the many years of its existence. They can choose from dozens of courses in science, technology, humanities, languages, arts and sports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-de43faed\">\n<p class=\"text-more\">Despite many difficulties, the faculty has managed to maintain a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.studujifpe.zcu.cz\/cs\/Applicant\/Study\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">complete spectrum of disciplines<\/a> that naturally mirrors the needs of the region&#8217;s&nbsp;schools. Students can thus educate themselves in <strong>humanities, natural sciences, languages, arts<\/strong> or <strong>sports-oriented<\/strong> educational programmes, while simultaneously studying a&nbsp;pedagogical-psychological foundation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-ec9e42aa\">\n<p class=\"text-more\">At the faculty, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fpe.zcu.cz\/cs\/Research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">we closely monitor the current development of the individual disciplines<\/a> in which we educate our students. It creates an environment where students, university lecturers, and school teachers can connect. It introduces new teaching methods into practice, such as paired teaching or accompanying teachers, and the community of practice is also worth mentioning. The result is graduates who are better prepared to handle the challenging situations of today&#8217;s&nbsp;schools.    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition to major initiatives such as INSPIRE 2, the faculty is also involved in other projects, for example through the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA\u010cR). These projects respond to the current needs of schools and parents: how to help teachers work with students with epilepsy, how to make field teaching accessible through virtual reality, or how to teach future educators to handle challenging situations with children and their parents. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Art close to people: The faculty has long supported artistic activities that enrich cultural life in Pilsen and the surrounding area. It cooperates with a&nbsp;number of institutions, such as the West Bohemian Gallery, the European House Gallery, and the Korand Choir. This has resulted in concerts, exhibitions, and educational programs involving both teachers and students. Since then, this proportion has remained at about the same level,&#8221; notes Dean Pavel Mentl\u00edk. &#8220;For graduates of the Kindergarten Teaching and Elementary Teaching programs this year, we found that one hundred percent will teach at the grade level for which they studied at the faculty,&#8221; he notes. &#8220;That percentage is decreasing for Teaching for Upper Grades graduates. For teachers for the second level of primary school this year it was 93%, and for graduates of teaching for secondary schools 59% of them started at the corresponding level of school. But the readiness of our graduates to teach in schools is improving.
